Powerful computers and advanced software applications will allow the students to design a wide variety of products while teaching them to manage the complex files they create.
Prerequisites: Algebra I or instructor approval
The Program:
Introduction to CADD I
Year One:
Drafters, using CADD, prepare technical drawings and plans used by production and construction workers to build everything from manufactured products such as toys, toasters, industrial machinery, and spacecraft to structures such as houses, office buildings, and oil and gas pipelines. This hands on course provides instruction in the use of the latest versions of AutoCAD and Solidworks Computer Aided Drafting & Design (CADD) software. Students also learn drafting standards and practices and will demonstrate their abilities by preparing and plotting various disciplines of drawings using CADD.
CADD II
Year Two:
This hands-on course is the study of Architectural Drafting & Design. Students will use the CADD skills learned in year one to produce a complete set of residential plans designed according to the IRCC standards. The software used this year is AutoCAD, 3D Studio MAX and students have access to Architectural Desktop and Revit. Students will produce and plot designs using state of the art equipment in an environment that duplicates the real world drafting office.
Every great accomplishment begins with an idea. Design technology places ideas on paper to be shared with others.
Our program is articulated with the College of Southern Idaho. You may earn college credits towards an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Drafting Technology giving you a distinct advantage over most of your peers across the country. At present program participants will earn 7 credits in year one and 6 credits in year two.
Exciting career opportunities await those who complete Cassia Regional Technical Center's CADD program.
