CASSIA EDUCATION CENTER MISSION AND GOALS

Mission: To provide a program that has a lasting, positive impact on the lives of high-risk students.

Goal 1:            Each student will have the opportunity to obtain academic success.

                        Praise and respect from teachers, family members and peers will encourage students to work to their potential.

Goal 2:            Each student will participate in a relevant school program that is interesting, challenging and provides opportunities for initiative and creative effort.

Goal 3:            Each student will participate in a positive environment in which they feel attracted to school as a supportive community that cares about their individuality and promotes their success.  The environment will promote positive teachers, supportive relationships and a climate of common purpose and caring.

Goal 4:            Each student will be supported in resolving personal problems,  which extend beyond school, e.g., gang membership and pressure, drug/alcohol abuse, dysfunctional family situations, teenage              pregnancy, emotional and medical problems, etc.

Goal 5:            Parents will be involved in the learning process of their children.  The faculty will work closely with parents providing frequent academic and behavioral progress reports.  Resources on parenting and dealing with troubled teens will be made available, as well as continuing support and encouragement.  Faculty and parents will work together in the best interest of thestudent’s academic, behavioral, and social needs.

We will accomplish these things through the commitment of our quality staff, in partnership with parents and community, utilizing a multiplicity of educational approaches, and small student-educator class ratios in a nurturing environment of mutual respect and dignity.  We will strive to have a lasting, positive impact on the lives of our students.
