The PTO (Parent-Teacher Organization) is established to better the experience of education for the children through service and fund-raisers for the school. There are several activities that the PTO is involved with during the school year. The PTO is anxious for parental involvement with any or all activities. Please consider volunteering some of your time during the school year. Together we can make a difference for your child.Welcome InformationWe would like to welcome you to our school! We are excited about the new school year and look forward to meeting all of you! Please read the following information to better familiarize yourself with our school and the programs that we offer. We are open to all volunteers and suggestions!
2011-2012 PTO Board
President: Brandy Amen
The objective of the PTO is to promote the welfare of children in school and in the community. We have several programs to benefit the children and to help parents get involved with their children at school. This is a basic outline of the various programs someone will be available at the Back to School Night (which is usually held in early September) to answer any questions or to hear any suggestions that you may have.
Back to School Night
The main purpose of Back to School Night is for the parents to come with their children to meet their teachers and familiarize themselves with the programs going on throughout the year. We will have tables for each of the programs. We also encourage you to meet the PTO Officers and volunteer to help us in any capacity! Refreshments will be served and we hope to have each of you there!
Book Fairs
Book Fairs are held during Parent Teacher Conferences to promote reading in the home. These are specifically designed so children will have more reading material available to them.
Thursday Candy Sales
Thursday Candy Sales will start the second week of school and will be every Thursday throughout the year while school is in session. The sales are held during the last recess from 1:45 to 2:00. Volunteers are always needed!
General Mill's Box Tops and Campbell's Soup Labels
We are continuing to collect the Box Tops and Soup Labels to earn educational and athletic equipment for our school. Box Tops and Soup Labels are two different programs, but we gather them at the same time. Please get grandparents, aunts and uncles and neighbors to help. We will send home a list of what to save as soon as we get them.
Shopping Anyone??
There are several stores around town that keep track of purchases and gives the school a kickback of the money that you spend there! They are Smith's, Albertson's and Target. All you have to do is have a card scanned when you purchase your items. With Smith's you need to sign up your Fresh Values Card with the PTO so that the portion of your purchases come to our school. For Albertson's, just pick up a card from the school if you don't already have one. Target has you sign up at their store. Please get grandparents, aunts and uncles and neighbors to help. These stores actually write out a check to the school! The money can accumulate quite fast, so please help us out in this easy way!
Accelerated Reading Program
This program is what PTO is all about! Please click here to read about the details of the program. We spend about $3,000.00 each year on these prizes. Everything you have read previous to this is how we raise money to buy these prizes.
Carnival
The carnival is the most fun for everyone! It will be in early Fall. We will be announcing the date soon! We have raffle tickets to sell. There will be one classroom that will win per grade that sells the most tickets. They will get a pizza party! As always, there will be great prizes for the ticket buyers! We have planned big fun toys to go along with the classroom games that are a must! Please plan on coming to help support us in this major event!
There are other functions that the PTO is involved in throughout the year and we would appreciate as many volunteers as possible. Please remember that as parent's we are responsible to help out children in their educational success. We as a PTO are trying to make this the best year ever and will appreciate any help in any capacity!
Thank you in advance for all your help!
